Ever seen one of those impromptu “Roadside Memorials” that marks the place where someone died in a car crash? We find them touching—and a tad creepy—but one safety group is using them as a springboard for a funny but thoughtful promotion. Chicago’s Healthy Streets Campaign (HealthyStreets.org) has produced a television “PSA” that purports to hawk “Bob Fuller’s Roadside Memorials,” ready-made displays that you can place on the location where a loved one died. Complete with smarmy announcer and samples of the product, the spot drives home the message that it could happen to YOUR loved one at any time. Go to DriveWithCare.org, and select the “Click here to see our new TV spot” icon. Thought-provoking, and well done.
