When most folks think of football and beverages, “wine” isn’t usually the first thing that pops into mind. But the braintrust at the Mendocino Wine Co. think they have a winner with former Chicago Bears head coach Mike Ditka lending his name to their new line. The company just unveiled its updated offerings, which include Mike Ditka Kick Ass Red, Mike Ditka Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, and Ditka's "Da Coach" Pinot Grigio and Merlot. Ditka was reportedly involved in every aspect of the grape blending (Cue the massive eye-roll) and of course is helping market the new product, as well as serving it at his eponymous restaurant in Chicago. You can order it online and decide for yourself. We’ll stick with beer, thanks.
FYI: Joe Montana has his own wine label now as well! I s'pose nothing pairs better with pigskin...
