YEAH, IT’S THE DOG’S FAULT
A Los Angeles company called Dog Paddle Wellness is seeking its own unique niche of the lucrative pet market. The company addresses the “problem” (Yes, “air quotes”) of dog obesity by offering a dog fitness camp that “begins with a thorough evaluation in which "Fido" gets weighed and measured … then starts his regimen of massage and stretching (italics—and incredulity—added), followed by Hydrotherapy underwater treadmill sessions.” The company justifies its business model thusly: “"It is so easy to put weight on a dog or to allow a pet to get out of shape … and if there are several family members giving the dog treats, then it is easy to see how the dog is getting too many calories.” Right. Or, you could tell everyone to stop doing that. We’re just sayin’….
