Cable TV’s The History Channel and Invent Now, a subsidiary of the National Inventors Hall of Fame Foundation, have named the top 25 inventions of 2007 via the 2nd annual “Modern Marvels Invent Now Challenge.” In an effort to draw more viewers to its programming, The History Channel co-sponsors the contest, allowing amateurs to unveil their ideas nationally. One lucky genius will win a $25,000 grant at the end of a tour that kicks off this weekend in San Jose, Calif. Full details are supposed to be posted at History.com/invent, but the site was lacking as of Thursday afternoon. Still, we were taken with one of the Top 25 ideas they sent us: “The AquaSkipper is a user-controlled and user-powered flapping-wing device that allows the rider to fly above the water.” Oooooh, we want one!
