The Goodyear Tire Co. has found a way to tie in to this year’s Final Four by having four college students shoot a basketball … from 500 feet up in the air. The tire company will use its famous blimp as a launch platform for the four lucky students (representing each school in the Final Four) to shoot a basketball from 50 stories up into a “100-foot hoop target.” It’s all part of Goodyear’s current “Get There” campaign. “Any student who makes the world's longest basketball shot will win the Goodyear ‘Get There’ grand prize package: travel, accommodations and tickets for two to attend one of the sporting events where the Goodyear blimp will provide aerial coverage over the next 12 months. If no student is successful, each will receive a second attempt.” Hey, do-overs! We love those! And be sure to watch the “sports roundup” on your local news this weekend to see how much free publicity Goodyear garners. Wish we had a blimp.
