SPEAKING OF DISAPPOINTING

Guess we can’t blame her for cashing in while she’s currently hot, but Paula Abdul, the “Nice One” on American Idol, is issuing a new Virgin/EMI CD titled Greatest Hits: Straight Up! According to the record label, “The new collection's 18 tracks feature all six of Abdul's No.1 hits and eight Top Ten singles.” REALLY? That many? We recall “Straight Up,” “Forever Your Girl,” “Cold Hearted,” and “Opposites Attract.” The rest we haven’t a clue. Either we’re getting really old, or the record company is kinda reaching. You’ll have to wait until May 8 to decide for yourself. Hey, isn’t that just about when American Idol wraps for the season? Good timing.
