Got word from our good friends at Consumerist.com today that there is a literal “Spam war” under way in Hawaii. Seems the islanders LOVE the canned meat product, so much so that McDonald’s offers it on its breakfast menu there, and now Burger King will do so as well. (Any why our island correspondent Erika didn’t file this story is beyond us; SOMEONE’s not gonna get a good performance review this year.) But this has got to be good news for the Hormel folks; Hawaiians reportedly scarf down five million pounds of the stuff a year, or about six cans per person. And we can still hear Python’s Graham Chapman in drag yelling out, ”I don’t like SPAM!”
