WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?

Revisiting the area of niche marketing today, we heard from a company called Barc that addresses the grooming needs of Hispanic and African-American men. Sounds good; the market’s huge and there’s money to be made. Now they’re pushing a special shaving cream “designed for men with medium to dark skin tones … whose “unique formula combats razor bumps and ingrown hairs while providing superior moisture.” And what is this wonder product called? “Cutting Up.” Yeah. A shaving cream called “Cutting Up.” Dunno if we would’ve named it that. And there’s no truth to the rumor they’re also coming out with an after-shave called “Stings Like Hell.” Details on this and their upcoming lip balm called “Smack” (Yes, really) can be found at GetBarc.com.
